I’m proud to be part of this historic release: The first whiskey to bear the Bomberger’s name since the distillery was sold at the onset of prohibition in 1919. The distillery in question dates back to 1753 and is more commonly known as the Michter’s distillery, a title it bore some 60 years after it belonged to the Bomberger’s.
Pennsylvania is the birthplace of American whiskey. It was only after the Whiskey Rebellion of 1791 that the industry migrated to Kentucky to avoid burdensome taxes. Bomberger’s is at the forefront of a movement to re-invigorate the Pennsylvania whiskey tradition, with highly-regarded Master Distiller Dick Stoll leading the charge.
